Nicotine patch problem?

Hi, I was a "Lab rat" for a new type of nicotine patch. I'm a non-smoker and I was paid about $250 dollars to test the patches (2 a day, three weeks) for the effects on non-smokers, and they were normal side effects, dizziness, etc. Well, after I got off the patch I really wanted it the next day, but they're about $15 dollars where I live for a week's supply, so I decided to buy cigarettes instead and I smoked a pack on the first day. Could I sue the company for doing this to me? I'm highly involved in athletics and the smoking is ruining my breathing, but I am having a hard time not smoking.
