Attention seeking girl?

Ok, there's a new girl at my high school. She was talking to me today, and out of the blue she tells me shes a druggie, that her dad beat and d her, and that she has been in a mental hospital. She also mentioned a mental disease. I comforted her, but I am cynical, and had my suspicions. I think she wants attention, but now I dont know how to act around her. help?
