Is Ron Paul really a good choice for the Republican party?

i remember ron paul being an independent so i don't know when he went republican. and Rudy? he had some issues which i don't remember and personally i don't much care. but Eric Cantor who insists we can't help tornado victims until we screw people in some other area with budget cuts? and Newt Gingrich who was cheating on his second wife while she was dying of cancer, then has to flip flop on whether he''s willing to kill medicare? remember the last election for bush where they called kerry a flip flopper? isn't that not what people want?
