Wouldn't a "thinking" person see the glory of God?

No. I used to believe when I was younger, when I needed to. Its a wondrous universe and I am fully able to acknowledge that there may be realities beyond the understanding of my mind and the apprehension of my senses- but still - none of this makes the old bugbear of the Bible necessary or even, to my thinking -desirable.
