Religion is our way of expressing our spirit and with science we express our intellect....?

It seems to me that extremists of the spirit and of the mind battle it out while they are comparing apples to oranges, am I right? And please don't base your answer on any 1 or even 5 religions and I'm not just talking about Darwinism and Creationism but science and religion as a whole.
