Anyone know why a team in Sweden has a Native American as their mascot and on their jersey?

Anybody know why the Frolunda Indians in Sweden are named so? Its the team Lundqvist hails from and I'm ordering a jersey and was just thinking how its odd that a team from Europe would use a Native American in a headdress
